“Power” star Omari Hardwick is keeping it 100 on the Beyoncé incident. The Hollywood heavyweight has dished out more details behind his now-infamous NAACP Image Awards moment with Queen Bey.
In a new Hot 97 interview, Omari discussed how the media hyped up the friendly run-in.
“Celebrity has become the seller of a person’s person. Now that Omari is more of a celebrity from the moment I met [radio host] Ebro, it’s not that it was just Beyoncé it’s that Omari is bigger. If somebody else, who’s not as big, hugs Beyoncé, I don’t know. – and JAY would have slapped me upside the head if I didn’t, ‘D*mn, n*gga, didn’t you see B? Give her a hug.’ That’s a woman that reached out to me, I don’t know, one more once and said, ‘I’m doing a surprise birthday for JAY, you gotta be there.’ That’s a friend.” (Hot 97)
A few days ago, Omari’s “Power” co-stars weighed-in on the hug and kiss moment.
Earlier this spring, Curtis Jackson went to Instagram and blamed Hardwick’s excitement for sparking his double-kiss.
“Man, it didn’t mean nothing. It didn’t mean nothing, man. He was just excited. What happened to being excited, man? He was excited. That was Beyoncé, blood. That’s Beyoncé, blood! Ha ha ha!”
…
Initially, Fif playfully trolled Hardwick about the kiss and suggested Bey’s husband JAY-Z would kill his “Power” character in show’s upcoming sixth season.
