Nicki Minaj is coming out of retirement…at least for one night.
The rapper, who’s been away from the spotlight since tweeting about retirement in September, stepped out to the launch of her Fendi Prints On collection in Beverly Hills last night where she discussed her eventual return to music and her fifth album.
“I’m always working, but I just don’t know if I technically wanna come out of my ‘Twitter retirement’ just yet,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.” “So I’m working and I’m working and if I do put out the fifth thing-thing, it’s gonna be iconic and insane, but I don’t know yet.”
In addition to working on new music, Nicki is making marriage plans. She and her boyfriend Kenneth Petty got their marriage license in July. “We got the marriage license, now I just have to wait until my pastor that I love comes and does it for us,” she said.
A big wedding will eventually happen, but “not at this moment.” She even has a “dope designer” who agreed to design her wedding dress.
“When I was little, I always imagined princess and marriage and the wedding and now it’s more to me about the life, the future, the love, the partnership, than the wedding,” she added. “[It’s] so strange cause I didn’t expect myself to be one of those people who didn’t care about the hoopla, but I really don’t.”
The rap queen also fueled rumors of a collaboration with Adele. The pop powerhouse has shared her love for Nicki in the past, rapping her “Monster” verse during a 2016 episode of “Carpool Karaoke.” So is a collaboration in the works? “Yes and yes! Yes and yes!” said Nicki.
However, it’s unclear if she was joking. “Adele made me swear to secrecy that I’m not allowed to tell anyone that I’m working with her. And that we already shot a video. And it’s an epic song!” she gushed.
While the Adele collaboration remains to be seen, she has collaborated with Ariana Grande and Normani on “Bad to You” off the upcoming Charlie’s Angels soundtrack.
“I’m proud of [Ariana], ’cause she executive produced that album and I’m proud to be a part of something that’s her baby,” said Minaj. “It’s always good working with her because we actually—unlike other artists—we actually have a real friendship outside, in the real world. People don’t realize that. Like we actually text, we actually FaceTime and we actually get on each other’s nerves, stuff like that.”
