Ty Dolla $ign connects with J. Cole on his new single “Purple Emoji.”

Over the soulful sample, Ty serenades his special lady, who’s held him down since day one. “I had to boss up, I had to level up myself / I did some growing up, I’m doing better for myself,” he sings on the grown and sexy track.

J. Cole caters to his leading lady, his wife who “pushed out a kid” for him. “I’m tryna put one more lil’ boy in your stomach / No frontin’ / I keep it one hunnid,” he raps.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Ty revealed that he met up with Cole while working on Kanye’s Yandhi at Jungle City Studios in New York. “Shout out to Cole for just being in the room with me like that,” he said. “It’s not often you can meet an artist that prolific, that big in the game that will just like, ‘Alright, let’s do it right now. What’s up, where the mic at?’”

In between his recording sessions with Ye, Ty is finishing up his new album, the follow-up to 2017’s Beach House 3. “It’s definitely my favorite album I’ve done yet,” he revealed. “My most personal, really talking the talk, lot more serious songs, but a couple party songs, bangers and stuff.”
