Netflix’s “Luke Cage” has faded to black for the worst reason ever. New reports claim creative differences ultimately forced the Marvel fan favorite to have its run end after just two seasons.

According to reports, a third season didn’t get the green light simply because of internal differences.

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that the cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show. Netflix doesn’t release viewership figures for its content. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Last week, reports went viral about Netflix pulling the plug on its superhero franchise.

“Unfortunately, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series,” Netflix and Marvel Television said in a joint statement. The series’ second season soundtrack treated hip-hop fans to new music from rap icon Rakim.

Season 2 of Netflix’s Luke Cage premiered on Friday and much like the first season, the show is backed by an excellent soundtrack which just so happens to include brand new music from the legendary Rakim. The song, “King’s Paradise” , produced by Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad who are also the show’s music supervisors, name drops Harlem greats like Malcolm X, Louis Armstrong, Lena Horne and the show’s titular character Luke Cage. Coincidentally, the initial “Luke Cage” season two trailer features Rakim’s “I Ain’t No Joke” classic.
