Gregg Leakes, known for appearing alongside his wife, actress, and tv personality NeNe Leakes through 12 seasons of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, has passed away. Greg was 66 years old.

The death was confirmed by publicist and family friend Ernest Dukes who released an official statement.

“Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes.

We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.”

PEOPLE states Gregg Leakes suffered from Colon Cancer. On Saturday, Leakes was at the Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, Georgia, and stated “my husband is transitioning to the other side.”

Gregg was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2018. In June, Gregg was hospitalized and recovering from surgery to combat cancer.
