Nas is putting Doja Cat on blast.
On Friday, the rap icon released his Hit-Boy-produced single “Ultra Black” on which he celebrates Black excellence. On the powerful track, he also takes a shot at Doja Cat, who has been accused of participating in racist conversations.
“We going Ultra Black / Unapologetically Black / The opposite of Doja Cat,” raps Nas.
Doja came under fire for racist comments she allegedly made in online chatrooms. She also recorded a song in 2015 called “Dindu Nuffin,” a racist slur mocking victims of police brutality. She later addressed the controversy after the #DojaCatIsOverParty hashtag began trending on Twitter.
“I understand my influence and impact and I’m taking this all very seriously,” she said in a statement. “I love you all and I’m sorry for upsetting or hurting any of you. That’s not my character, and I’m determined to show that to everybody moving forward. Thank you.”
“Ultra Black” also features celebratory references to Black celebrities including Grace Jones, Iman, Billy Dee Williams, and Michael Blackson. “Black is beauitful!” declares Nas.
Executive produced by Hit-Boy, Nas’ new album King’s Disease is set to arrive Aug. 21.
