Nardo Wick has issued a public apology after being under scrutiny for an incident involving his security guards becoming violent with a fan. As the investigation unfolds, the Chicago rapper’s career and the employment of his two bodyguards hang in the balance.
Shocking Interaction Caught On Video
Nardo Wick, the rapper known for his controversial lyrics and persona, has taken to social media to apologize for the extreme violence that was recently inflicted on a fan by his security team.
On November 28, 2023, a video circulated online showed George Obregon Jr. approaching Nardo Wick and his security guards, intending to take a picture with his favorite rapper. Instead, Obregon Jr. was unexpectedly struck by one of the guards, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.
He was subsequently rushed to the hospital with internal bleeding and a concussion. The footage clearly shows that Obregon Jr. posed no threat and that Wick himself intervened to prevent his security guard from delivering another blow.
Obregon’s Mother Responds
The victim’s mother, Michelle Obregon, took to Facebook to express her outrage, stating:
“ I want everyone to see what these mother fuckers did to my son!!!!! At no point was my son aggressive at no fuckin point did she show any sign of harm!!! My son wanted a stupid fuckin picture with his favorite artist!!!! And This is what he gets!!!!!!! I am sick to my stomach to think about how this could have turned out!!! Please help me share this please A as a mother I am begging you to help get justice for George Obregon Jr. Anyone who knows my son knows he is the sweetest and gentlest kid ever. No drugs, alcohol, gang, nothing! I am dying here and my fuckin heart is hurting so bad I am sick to my stomach. I can’t stay quiet “
Nardo Apologizes: ‘I Don’t Condone What Happened To My Fan’
Wick later addressed the incident on Instagram, expressing his remorse and concern for Obregon Jr.
The Hot Boy artist claimed that he contacted the victim’s mother immediately after the incident, offering support and promising to make it up to him. Wick wrote:
“I don’t condone what happened to my fan George after my show in any type of way, I expressed to him and his mama how sorry and concerned I was that it happened to him, multiple times before anything was even posted or on the internet. I sent his mama my number instantly the night it happened. I was even gone make a post to try to find out who he was before his mama text me. I cant control another grown man actions, I ain’t know that was gone happen, and I was mad when it happened. I tried to stop it as u can see in the video, and if somebody got the longer video you can see how mad I was, I love and appreciate all my fans and don’t condone in what happened at all dat shit ain’t gangsta or cool in no type of way.”
Additionally, he made an apology video reiterating his Instagram apology in which the “Who Want Smoke” rapper said:
“ I don’t condone the situation that happened. I don’t stand for that situation that happened. I was fully unaware of that situation that was about to take place. As soon as it happened I tried to de-escalate the situation. After the situation I got in contact with the mama. I sent her my number, I called and asked her how he was doing. I told her I’ll do anything to make it up to him as a fan. I told her to keep me updated on his health. And it ain’t about trying to stop something from happening. It ain’t none of that. I genuinely care about the fan. That’s all I care about. I dont give a damn about what everybody talking about, “sue, sue, sue.” I don’t care about that nigga. If they gotta do what they gotta do, they’ll do what they do. Right now Im worried about the fan. Make sure he straight. And I want him to know that. I aint condoning, I ain’t want that to happen. That ain’t how I treat my fans. I love my fans. I don’t rock like that at all. That wasn’t gangster. That wasn’t cool. I ain’t know that was gonna happen. I didn’t expect that to happen. I love all my fans. I welcome all of my fans with open arms. After the situation happened, I was mad as hell. I got in contact with his mama the same night. I checked on him and I told her “anything he need, I got him. Before anything was posted, before any pictures was seen, before any blog posted, before she posted anything, I reached out to him. I checked on him. I told her I got him. Whatever he need me to do to make it up to him…”
Fans took to Twitter(X) to express how they felt about the situation with one user (@tweezy2trill) stating, “Can’t blame Nardo and I’m sure they going to take there charges… good luck with suing which I’m sure she wants to do.” While another user (@golfinglounge) stated, “I feel and pray for him and his mom. I pray Nardo starts surrounding himself with real security and fake thugs. I pray he finds Jesus. He needs it after this.”
Nardo’s Past Controversy
Despite the Chicago rapper’s public apologies and efforts to rectify the situation, the potential legal consequences and impact on his career remain uncertain.
If a lawsuit is filed against him, it could have significant repercussions for the rapper, as well as the employment of the two bodyguards involved in the assault. This incident isn’t the first time Nardo Wick has faced public scrutiny.
In 2022, he garnered attention after a viral clip from his interview with DJ Akademiks revealed details about his upbringing in a tough environment and the struggles to escape a criminal mindset. This context provides a deeper understanding of the rapper’s persona and the challenges he has faced throughout his career.
Hip-Hop Artists & Bodyguard Fiasco
This incident involving Nardo Wick’s security guards brings to mind other cases where bodyguards have found themselves in legal trouble. In a similar vein, Trey Songz’s bodyguard faced legal issues in Dubai after a hotel confrontation in March 2023. In November 2023, Offset, a fellow rapper, found himself in legal trouble when a security guard filed a lawsuit alleging assault and battery. The ongoing legal battle involves Offset and another rapper, YRN Murk, who are accused of assault, battery, and negligence.
