Rap veteran Mystikal is inching closer to tasting freedom. New reports claim the hip-hop artist has some financial support on deck to get him from behind bars on bail.
According to reports, the former No Limit Records star could be released before his publicized first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping trial starts up in May.
Mystikal’s attorney, Joel Pearce, tells TMZ … his client’s friends and family have been raising money to help post the $3 million bail. But, what really helped is a new music deal. Tim Yazbeck, another attorney for the rapper, tells TMZ … Mystikal has a new record deal for 3 unreleased albums and he’s hoping to get an advance within days. Mystikal’s legal team tells us they’re confident he’ll be out on bail by the end of next week. (TMZ)
In December 2017, Mystikal appeared in court to plead not guilty to multiple sexual assault charges.
Michael Lawrence Tyler, a 46-year-old Prairieville resident whose performance name is Mystikal, faces one count each of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. Tyler has been in Caddo Correctional Center since surrendering to authorities Aug. 21. His next court date is Jan. 18 and could include a motion to reduce his $3 million bond, the Caddo district attorney’s office reports. (KSLA News)
Reports claimed the incident allegedly happened in October 2016.
Tyler and an accomplice were indicted in September for an assault that allegedly occurred outside a Shreveport, Louisiana casino in October 2016 when the former No Limit artist was in town for the Legends of Southern Hip-Hop Tour. (SPIN)
