Megan Thee Stallion won’t be silenced.
After suing her label 1501 Certified Entertainment and its CEO Carl Crawford earlier in the week, the Houston rapper received a temporary restraining order which prevents 1501 from blocking the release of her new project Suga. On the eve of its release, she celebrated the ruling on Instagram.
“FACTS ARE FACTS AND THE FACTS ARE PUBLIC I’m extremely pleased that 1501 and Carl Crawford were denied the request to dissolve the Court order and try to stop my music from being released. I will proceed with the release of SUGA,” said Meg.
The dispute ignited after Meg requested to renegotiate her contract, which she signed when she was 20 years old. “Soon as I said, ‘I want to renegotiate my contract,’ everything went left. It just all went bad,” she told fans on Instagram Live. “It all went left. So now they tellin’ a bitch that she can’t drop no music. It’s really just, like, a greedy game.”
But she has vowed to stand up for herself amid the legal battle. “To be clear, I will stand up for myself and won’t allow two men to bully me, I am NO ONES PROPERTY. Y’all are choosing to highlight the issue of music splits…talk about everything else. This has nothing to do with anyone else including JAY-Z, stop deflecting and trying to make this a publicity stunt, I want my rights.”
She claims that 1501 didn’t want to approve the budget for her project and tried to thwart its release. But she prevailed in court. “1501 tried to fight the decision today, the court denied 1501’s request respect my deceased mother, she’s not here, you don’t know her, you weren’t involved,” she said.
The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper also addressed Crawford directly. “Carl should speak for himself,” said Megan. “All the facts are public record available at the courthouse in Houston.”
Crawford has denied Megan’s allegations. “It’s a whole lie,” Crawford told Billboard. “Nothing is true that she said. Me being greedy and taking money from her, that’s crazy. I never tried to take nothing from her. The only thing we ever did was give, give, give.”
Suga is set to arrive Friday featuring the Tupac-sampled single “B.I.T.C.H.,” plus collaborations with Kehlani and Gunna.
