Meek Mill’s fourth studio album Championships recently released on Atlantic Records and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group has debuted at an impressive #4 in Australia on the official ARIA charts.
The highly anticipated 19-track album debuted at #1 in both Canada and America, as well as charting strongly throughout Europe, becoming the prolific Philadelphia rapper’s second #1 album after 2015’s platinum-selling Dreams Worth More Than Money.
Selling an impressive 229,00 equivalent albums in the first week alone in America, the release features a star-studded cast including Drake, Cardi B, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Fabolous, Future, Young Thug, Kodak Black, Jeremih, 21 Savage and recorded the ninth-largest streaming week of 2018 for an album. Other albums to debut in the current Top 40 this week in Australia include Ski Mask the Slump God’s “Stokeley” at #7, Earl Sweatshirt’s “Some Rap Songs” at #9 and J.I.D’s “DiCaprio 2” at #33.
Eminem’s Kamikaze remains at #1 after 14 weeks in Australia, followed by Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys before Drake’s Scorpion rounds out the top 3 hip hop albums. The only two non-North American albums to be in the current Top 40 Album charts are the Australian albums Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under The Stars by the Hilltop Hoods at #25 and ChillinIt’s excellent 15-track Women Weed & Wordplay featuring Wombat, Huskii, Lil Sknow, Kamakaze (UK) and Body Bag Media on the independent 420 Family at #32.
