The chicken sandwich craze is set to make a return in the new year, but this time McDonald’s is entering the chat.
If any fast-food chain restaurant can give Popeyes a run for its money, it will certainly be Mickey Dees.
Business Insider obtained leaked documents in 2018 stating that McDonald’s planned to debut two new chicken sandwiches to their breakfast menu. BI reached out to the super-fast food restaurant and they responded with a cryptic message. “What came first, the chicken or the egg? Set your alarm for more reasons to visit McDonald’s for breakfast in 2020.”
The Chicken McGriddle and McChicken Biscuit sandwiches are coming to McDonald’s on Monday, February 3rd. The new items will have the crispy, fried chicken element of the McChicken, infused with the breakfast elements of the McGriddle.
Former McDonald’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook, said last year that McDonald’s wanted to explore different avenues in the highly-competitive fast food restaurant industry.
“I mean, we’ve seen competitors ramp up their activity during this year as well actually. So having another entrant in next year will just ensure that the market share fight remains as competitive as ever.”
