Lil Reese is in critical condition following a shooting in his home state of Illinois.

According to TMZ, the 26-year-old rapper was shot on Monday afternoon in Country Club Hills, about 40 minutes outside of Chicago. When officers arrived to the scene around 2:30 p.m., they discovered a vehicle that had fresh blood on the driver’s seat as well as on the ground next to the driver’s side door.

Witnesses told police that a wounded man had been taken away by another man, who was later identified after officers checked local hospitals. Cops were told a male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the neck was being treated at South Suburban Hospital. The victim was later transferred to Christ Medical Center.

According to Chicago’s WLS-TV, officials at Christ Medical Center identified the victim as Tavares Taylor aka Lil Reese and said he is in critical condition. It’s unclear what led to the shooting, but an investigation is underway.

Following the shooting reports, Reese’s friend and collaborator Lil Durk took to Twitter to assure fans that Reese was okay. “Reese good,” Durk tweeted.
