Lil Nas X has been in the headlines lately following his breakout song, “Old Town Road.” However, the record-breaking artist took to Twitter to open up on his personal beliefs on his newfound fame.
“I usually deal with my sad times in private because I don’t like for my fans or family to feel sorry for me,” he began. “This year had a lot of very high ups and extremely low downs. when u get to that hotel room and it’s just you, you do a lot of thinking. small things become so BIG.”
“I like to pretend hate and shit don’t get to me, but subconsciously it eats away at me,” he added. “feeling like u have the world and knowing it can all go away at any time is scary. with all this being said I want anybody who cared enough to read this to just live in the moment. love u guys.”
Lil Nas has not only caught the attention of fans with his catchy tunes but also for his vulnerability. Earlier this year Lil Nas came out with his sexuality to fans. In an interview with Gayle King, he mentioned that he would “pray, pray, pray” that his sexuality was just “a phase.” Lil Nas then went to explain how coming out as a gay rapper with a platform like his, can be “easy” and acknowledged that everyone isn’t as fortunate.
“Me being in this position, like, it’s easy for me. But some little boy 10 miles from here, It’s not gonna be good for him.”
Lil Nas X has had a good run this year with his career. He has accomplished the title of being the first openly gay rapper to win a Country Music Award for his duo of “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus. He has also been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for the year 2020. Let’s keep Lil Nas X in our hopes to fill him with happier spirits.
