Lecrae Installs Portable Handwashing Stations for Atlanta’s Homeless Amid the Coronavirus

While people across the country are taking shelter in their homes and stocking up on hand sanitizer and handsoap, the homeless in this country are faced with no adequate shelter or any adequate way of sanitization, making themselves more susceptible to catching the virus.

Rapper Lecrae has taken it upon himself to help the homeless in Atlanta. The Christian rapper has partnered up with the non-profit organization Love Beyond Walls in an effort to provide better hygiene to Atlanta’s homeless by installing portable handwashing stations across the city.

The installations began on Thursday (March 19) and each station holds five gallons of water and has a soap dispenser connected to it.

In a statement to Channel 2 News in Atlanta, Lecrae stated that “When the pandemic hit, I thought, ‘What is the homeless community doing about these warnings. We spent a good amount of time putting them around Hurt Park. It’s a major city and in a major city, like this, it speaks very loud. The love is loud, appreciation is loud, but the problems are loud as well. The city has shown me so much love, so I wanted to be sure to show it back.”

As well as setting up handwashing stations across the city, Lecrae handed out food to the homeless as well.
