In promotion of his new album, Dying to Live, which drop Friday, Kodak Black made a brief stop in New York.
During his interview on the popular Hot 97 show Ebro in the Morning, the Haitian rapper walked out when Ebro brought up his sexual assault case. Kodak addressed the issue at the beginning of the conversation by stating he had “the case in control.” They then began a normal conversation.
Ebro’s crew and The Finesse Kid talked about the song that popped him off “No Flocking,” and the song that has him popping now, “Ze Ze.” They spoke on XXXTentacion. Kodak also expressed a joyful feeling in response to being featured on JAY-Z’s End of the Year TIDAL playlist.
Things got ugly at this point. At the conclusion of the interview, Ebro returned to Kodak’s legal situation, causing an awkward atmosphere in the studio. He offered the opportunity for the 21-year-old Florida Boy to come back and speak in detail about the case that goes to trial in April.
“We take sexual assault here serious and we can’t get into detail, but we hope to have you back so that we could have a deeper conversation because this is a serious topic,” said Ebro.
With a confused look on his face, Kodak responded and gave an ultimatum.
“I feel like sometimes when niggas like me going through shit, y’all be entertained by bullshit. Change the subject or I’m finna walk out.”
Ebro rejected the offer and Kodak left subsequently.
In February of 2016, an alleged victim accused Kodak of pinning down, biting and raping her while in a hotel in Florence, S.C. Trial begins in April 2019 and is facing 30 years in prison if convicted.
