Kid Cudi is talking candidly about his fight to maintain his mental health on the latest episode of Red Table Talk. Cudi, along with co-host Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and Willow Smith, discuss mental health and forgiveness on the upcoming show.
“I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden… even from my friends,” Cudi said as he spoke with Jada, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and Willow Smith. “I really was good with that. And it’s scary because you hear people say, ‘I had no clue.’” He continued on to say, “I really went out of my way to keep what I was going through hidden because I was ashamed.”
The “Day and Night” rapper went public with his battle in a letter written on Facebook. He exclaimed,
“I am not at peace. I haven’t been since you’ve known me. If I didn’t come here, I would’ve done something to myself. I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions every day of my life. There’s a ragin violent storm inside of my heart at all times. Idk what peace feels like. Idk how to relax. My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I can’t make new friends because of it. I don’t trust anyone because of it and I’m tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace.”
Red Table Talk is a web television talk show co-hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith, and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris that airs exclusively on Facebook Watch. Cudi’s episode will premiere on December 17th.
