Kanye West has a ton of Grammys already but he has yet to get one for rock music. TMZ reports a source with ties to Ye’s team at Def Jam submitted Kanye West’s collaboration with Kid Cudi, “Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt. 2),” in the Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance categories.
The next step for Kanye West is to make it past the first round ballot, which pushes it forward to the nominations and inclusion in the awards.
Kanye West is also gunning for the Producer of the Year award for his efforts across the board, while G.O.O.D. Music will hopefully also have representation with Pusha T in the Rap Album and Teyana Taylor in the R&B album category.
Kanye West is not done with music this year. He is currently scheduled to drop a release on Black Friday titled Yandhi. Aside from music he is currently continuing to make his presence felt in various communities by giving out shoes in Africa to supporting Chicago mayoral candidate Amra Enyia with a $73,000 donation.
