Kanye West has once again ignited controversy with his latest business move. As he prepares to release his highly anticipated album, Ye has caused a stir by appointing controversial Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy as the new Head of Design for his Yeezy brand.
Ye Welcomes New Addition To Yeezy
In a surprising announcement on Dec. 13, Kanye West shared the news of Gosha Rubchinskiy’s appointment on his social media platform, Twitter (X). The post stated:
“YEEZY welcomes Gosha Rubchinskiy as its new Head of Design today. The arrival of this legendary Russian designer at Yeezy, the pre-eminent global brand in music and fashion, is a milestone in design history.”
This bold statement emphasizes the significance Kanye sees in Rubchinskiy joining the Yeezy team.
Users on Twitter (X) quickly reacted to the news. One user named @Ininidi__ commented, “The Anti Semetic is back,” and one other user named @Ecoreactionair commented, “ Gosha x Ye is so funny because of both of their histories. Tryna make the most ‘problematic’ collaboration of all time lmao.”
The comment is in reference to Kanye’s controversial comments on Jewish people in the past.
Who Is Gusho Rubchinskiy?
Rubchinskiy himself has been at the center of controversy in the fashion world. His designs have faced criticism for incorporating the German Coat of Arms, a symbol associated with Nazi Germany.
Additionally, he faced accusations in 2018 when a teenage boy claimed that Rubchinskiy had pressured him into sending explicit photographs.
Interestingly, Rubchinskiy’s involvement with Yeezy goes beyond his position as Head of Design. He has also contributed to the design of the album cover for Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s upcoming album, Vultures, set to release on Dec. 15.
