Jussie Smollett’s ongoing case with Chicago just hit a new peak as new evidence proves he was well acquainted with his “attacker” before the alleged attack.
“They used to party together, and he had a sexual relationship with [Ola]. They went to this affluent Chicago bathhouse multiple times and they had to show ID. It’s known as a bathhouse where a lot of affluent black gay men hang out. There should be a record [of their visits],” an insider told Page Six.
However, Ola and his brother Abel, denied that they were gay and sued the actor’s legal team, Tina Glandian and Mark Geragos, for defamation. The brothers stopped by Good Morning America and said the claims put their family at risk in Nigeria, where inhumane laws are enforced against homosexuality. You can go to jail for 14 years for being gay, or stoned to death if you’re married.
“We have sat back and watched lie after lie being fabricated about us in the media only so one big lie can continue to have life. These lies are destroying our character and our reputation in our personal and professional lives,” they said in a statement read by their attorney, Gloria Schmidt, on their behalf at the time.
The defamation case was dismissed, but Jussie Smollett is still trying to prove that he didn’t work alongside the brothers to stage the alleged attack. He claims the $3,5000 for a 5-week nutrition and work out plan, not for the attack.
Neither party made a comment on this update, and if the bathhouse records are subpoenaed that may open a new can of worms.
