Things just went from bad to worse for the Empire actor.

After being charged for falsifying a police report for claiming to be assaulted in a racist, homophobic attack, the grand jury in the case has decided to charge the 36-year old openly gay actor for each lie that he told in the initial police report and police interview.

Jussie’s total number of charges has now reached 16. All of the charges are felonies.

“Jussie Smollett knew that at the time… there was no reasonable ground for believing that such offenses had been committed,”

the jury’s document says.

One of the felonies carries a maximum sentence of three years, so Smollet could possibly spend almost 50 years in prison if he receives the maximum penalty.

Smollett’s arraignment is set for March 14.
