One of the internet’s most infamous sites known for promoting nudity and sexual content will no longer be allowing pornography on the platform starting October 1, according to NBC News.
OnlyFans announced yesterday that it was phasing out sexually explicit content to satisfy banking institutions and the financial transaction services used by OnlyFans content creators. OnlyFans said in a public statement that it was a request from the said institutions and services that prompted the change.
Nudity that adheres to the content policies will be allowed, but the platform has not decided where the line will be drawn between nudity and sexually explicit content.
OnlyFans boasts a $5 billion payout, while only having 2 million content creators and 130 million users. Adult performers have pegged the platform as a savior during the times of the pandemic, lockdowns, and no-contact entertainment.
OnlyFans has yet to respond to requests for comment on the switch.
