Ice Cube is back. The rap icon returns with Everythangs Corrupt, his first studio album in eight years.
From the politically-charged “Arrest the President” to the G-funk banger “That New Funkadelic,” the outspoken N.W.A legend stays true to his gangsta roots on the 16 tracks, which also includes a lone collaboration with Too $hort (“Ain’t Got No Haters”).
“I try to be honest on my records. They do, don’t get me wrong, tend to lean towards west cast hardcore hip-hop, but at the end of the day, I’m trying to just tell my truth as I see it,” Cube told Beats 1. “And nobody’s exempt on my records. You know, I talk about everybody, even myself. I think every pencil needs to be sharpened every now and then, so hopefully my record is a pencil sharpener.”
Everythangs Corrupt marks Cube’s 10th solo album and his first since 2010’s I Am the West. In addition to music, he is gearing up to shoot Last Friday, the long-awaited fourth installment in the Friday franchise.
