Gunna is gunning for the top of the charts.
The Atlanta rapper’s new album WUNNA is expected to debut atop the Billboard 200. According to early estimates from HITS Daily Double, the album is on track to do 110-130,000 equivalent album units in its first week, of which 2-5,000 are in album sales.
The projections would give Gunna his first No. 1 and biggest week yet. His debut album, 2019’s Drip or Drown 2, opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 90,000 equivalent album units.
Released on Friday, WUNNA features appearances from Travis Scott, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, and Young Thug. “I’m really just trying to tap in with me showing more of my personality, which is real life,” Gunna told Apple Music. “You gotta tap in and let your fans know you more, so that’s where this came from. I made sure I touched every vibe. I got that real sh*t, that fun sh*t, I got that girl sh*t, and then I got that calm just Gunna flow, drip.”
NAV currently has the No. 1 album in the country with Good Intentions, but he’s about to be dethroned by Future, whose High Off Life is expected to open with over 140,000 equivalent album units.
This would mark Future’s seventh No. 1 album. He previously topped the charts with Future HNDRXX Presents: The WIZRD, HNDRXX, Future, Evol, What a Time to Be Alive, and DS2.
