Hot 97 radio veteran Funk Flex sounds big mad. The hip-hop entertainer has come forward to get at Jermaine Dupri for coming to JAY-Z‘s defense following a publicized NFL deal.
On Thursday, Flex called out JD for saying JAY didn’t tell him to fall back on a previous NFL partnership and suggested Roc Nation pressured him.
In a new interview, JD said while he did speak to JAY about previously working with the NFL during Super Bowl festivities, he didn’t have Young Hov corner him.
“On the Big Tigger show, I’m speaking and letting people know, he and I never had a conversation where he told me ‘Don’t do what you’re doing.’ What our conversation was, was that ‘You know what side I’m on. Understand what you’re doing.’ That’s what the conversation was. Because everybody should, like I said, even when I was doing my press, I kept having to reiterate the fact that, ‘Guy, I’m not doing Super Bowl, I’m doing shows in Centennial Olympic Park.’ And people just kept, ‘No, you’re involved in the NFL ’cause it’s an NFL sanctioned thing.’ Okay, that’s cool but we also have an NFL committee that’s an Atlanta committee, right? That people that live in Atlanta, people that move around this city everyday, shout-out to all of the people that work there…” (V-103)
A few days ago, Flexripped JAY for allegedly pressuring JD not to work with the NFL.
In a new interview, Atlanta native Killer Mike said he believed JAY’s groundbreaking NFL/Roc Nation partnership could open more than just a few doors for the black community.
“JAY-Z’s play, I believe, not only gives us a seat at the table, young people, young black America, it doesn’t destroy what Kaepernick kneeled for. What he kneeled for was proper treatment of us by state agents—by police. That does not end with him getting a job. The same way him kneeling is not an insult to the military.” (“Real Time With Bill Maher”)
