French Montana has had a whirlwind of a weekend after speaking on R. Kelly. French was tracked down by TMZ and while he acknowledges he wasn’t surprised by the allegations, he also believes the legacy of R. Kelly should remain intact.
“Let somebody enjoy their legacy. Whatever happened, happened, man,” French said to the issue.
Montana would double down on the statement when asked about his music continuing to be supported and said: “They don’t let nobody have their legendary moments.”
French’s comments were met with backlash throughout the weekend causing the “No Stylist” rapper to release an additional statement on Twitter.
“Let me be clear. My heart is with the victims,” Montana tweeted. “I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child molestors and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them.”
