The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office wants to pursue a new indictment against the two former New York Police officers accused of handcuffing and raping a teenager.
The New York Post reports that prosecutors are asking rand jurors to consider charging the former officers with bribery and official misconduct, not counting the forcible rape, sexual assault, and kidnapping charges.
A rape kit following the September 2017 incident proved that both disgraced ex-cops Eddie Martins and Richard Hall’s DNA was found in the then-18-year-old’s mouth and vagina. The men claimed it was consensual, meanwhile the victim, Anna Chambers, says it was forced.
The Brooklyn DA’s office declined to comment, adding that grand jury proceedings are secret.
