We The Best CEO DJ Khaled is giving Netflix a huge co-sign. The hip-hop hitmaker went to social media this week to plug R&B icon Beyoncé‘s new Netflix special.
Khaled jumped on Instagram to salute Queen Bey on her Homecoming film.
The must-see flick focuses on Bey becoming the first-ever black woman to headline the Coachella music festival in 2018.
Written, directed and produced by the singer, and shot over eight months, the Netflix project is part concert film, part documentary with a behind-the-scenes look at the two weekend performances which made her the first black woman to ever headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The Coachella-based flick has already sparked handfuls of positive reactions.
To celebrate the premiere, Bey also released an accompanying live album.
The surprise LP runs for 40 tracks and covers the massive setlist that saw her prancing across the stage in majestic outfits as she belted out her biggest hits. 38 of the cuts here are from the live show. The remaining two are new recordings; the first is Beyoncé’s cover of Frankie Beverly and Maze’s 1981 hit “Before I Let Go.” She brings a calming, contemporary energy to the summer-signifying record. The second of the two is a recording of her daughter Blue Ivy singing “Lift Every Voice And Sing,” the poem written by James Weldon Johnson in 1900 that Beyoncé sung at Coachella last year. (MTV)
