“Making the Band” is back by popular demand.
After igniting a social media frenzy, Sean “Diddy” Combs and MTV have announced that the reality competition series will return in 2020 to find the next breakout superstars.
Last week, Diddy took to social media to ask his millions of followers if they wanted him to bring back the iconic series, prompting support from Wale, Dwyane Wade, and Seth Rogen. And now he’s making it official.
“MTV and I are back together again!! ‘Making the Band’ is coming back bigger, bolder and more cutting edge,” said the hip-hop mogul. “MTB on MTV was the pioneer of reality TV. We’re going to bring that supernatural energy back to the format and bring the world it’s next global superstars.”
He has also announced a global talent search across social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. Talent can upload their video submissions using the hashtag #MTBCasting. Casting opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks.
“There’s way better things than cheesecake now, so it’s gonna get even crazier,” added Puff. “‘Making the Band’ is back. The sensei is back, the teacher is back. We back baby, yeah!”
“Making the Band” first premiered on MTV in 2002, documenting the real-life drama behind chart-topping acts including Da Band, Danity Kane, Day26, and Donnie Klang.
