Live from New York, it’s DaBaby.
The Charlotte rapper capped off an epic year by making his debut as musical guest on this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live.” Following an introduction from host Jennifer Lopez, DaBaby took the stage at Studio 8H to perform two songs—”BOP” from KIRK and “Suge” from his debut album, Baby on Baby.
For his first performance of “BOP,” he staged a dance musical. Wearing a Hornets jersey and Gucci pants, DaBaby showed off his moves while delivering an animated set featuring dancers, twerkers, and a cameo from Jabbawockeez.
He returned later to perform his breakout hit “Suge” with Jabbawockeez and his artist Stunna 4 Vegas. Looking buff in a red padded turtleneck and KIRK chain, the young CEO put on a theatrical show complete with flying money and a dance-off.
He also appeared alongside J.Lo, Kenan Thompson, Pete Davidson, and Chris Redd in a holiday-themed skit. They played carolers who put a Christmas spin on late ’90s/early 2000s hip-hop classics including Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony’s “Crossroads,” City High’s “What Would You Do?” and Pras, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and Mya’s “Ghetto Superstar.” While they were performing, DaBaby was robbing the family’s house.
“I’m like Robin Hood. I rob the rich, take it back to the ‘hood,” said DaBaby before leaving with a bag of loot and a gingerbread house.
