NBA free agent Carmelo Anthony‘s return to the league might be more realistic than people think. New reports claim the former Knicks star is getting heavy interest from the Brooklyn Nets.
According to reports, Nets’ stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are pushing for a Melo/Brooklyn deal to go down.
The Brooklyn Nets remain interested in signing Carmelo Anthony, Frank Isola of The Athletic reports, thanks in no small part to the team’s newly acquired superstar duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving supposedly pushing for such a move. This isn’t the first time that Anthony has been linked to the Nets franchise, we wrote about an informal scrimmage that he participated in earlier this month with players on the roster. (SLAM)
Today, Melo is also expected to participate in a New York Knicks workout.
In 2018, Anthony laced up and played a short-lived role on the Houston Rockets before ultimately getting let go.
Anthony, who last played in an NBA game as a member of the Houston Rockets on Nov. 8, wants another shot in the league and has said that he is willing to accept any role. “I know I can still play,” Anthony said earlier this month. “My peers know I can still play. I don’t think it’s about basketball anymore. I think it’s about me as a person willing to accept certain roles on basketball teams. Am I willing to accept a certain role on a basketball team? Yes.” (CBS Sports)
A few days ago, Carmelo’s wife La La shared footage of him playing basketball with their son.
