Cardi B is ready for “Ladies Night” 2.0.
The “Press” rapper revealed that she wants to bring together several of hip-hop’s leading ladies for an all-star collaboration. The idea was inspired by a Lil’ Kim song, but it’s not a remake of Kim’s 1997 classic “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix)” featuring Missy Elliott, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Da Brat, and Angie Martinez.
“I want to do this remake, not of like ‘Ladies Night,’ but it’s definitely a Lil’ Kim song inspired,” Cardi told REAL 92.3’s Big Boy during Sunday’s Real Street Festival.
She already has a couple rappers in mind, although she wouldn’t reveal any names. “I ain’t gonna say it, but I definitely got like a couple of people. I will say it, but it’s a secret. I got a couple of people in mind.”
Cardi is confident the song will come to fruition. “I know I’m gonna make it happen,” she said. “It’s very specific. I really been having this idea. It’s an idea from a Lil’ Kim song that I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time. And I want to put like four female rappers, and then I wanna put one female rapper that is not signed.”
She added, “That idea that I have is really dope and I know it’s gonna happen.”
Additionally, Cardi announced that she’s back in the studio working on new music. “I just started getting back in the studio right now,” she said. “I’m in single mode. Maybe I’m in a put a little project out and then I go into album mode.”
When asked if she feels pressure to top her Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy, she replied, “There’s definitely more pressure to do my second album because my first album did so good and it’s like, ‘Damn, how the hell am I gonna beat that?’”
