Cardi B is about to get even more press.
A grand jury has indicted the Grammy-winning rapper on 14 charges, including two counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury, in connection with her alleged involvement in a fight at a Queens strip club last year. According to the TMZ report, other charges include misdemeanor reckless endangerment, assault, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, and harassment.
Cardi was arrested in October for allegedly ordering an attack on bartender sisters, Rachel Wattley and Sarah Wattley aka Jade and Baddie Gi, during the August incident at Angels Strip Club. The women claim they were injured when Cardi’s people threw bottles, chairs, and a hookah after Cardi accused Jade of sleeping with Offset.
She was initially charged with two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of assault, but the charges have been superseded by the grand jury indictment.
Last month, Cardi was offered a plea deal, which she rejected. In return for pleading guilty to a single misdemeanor, she would avoid jail as long as she stayed out of trouble for a period of time.
Prosecution sources tell TMZ that they decided to take the case to the grand jury because of information they discovered during their investigation.
Last night, Cardi was on hand as she became the first female rap recipient of the Songwriter of the Year award at the 34th annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards in Beverly Hills. She was recognized for writing or co-writing the most hits of the past year including “Bartier Cardi,” “Ring,” and “I Like It.”
