Bryson Tiller Delays ‘Serenity’ Album

Bryson Tiller fans will have to wait for Serenity.

The R&B crooner has officially delayed the release of his third album. Taking to Instagram Stories on Wednesday (Dec. 12), Tiller revealed that he was unable to deliver an album under pressure from fans.

“Album delayed til I’m happy with it,” he wrote. “I understand that people these days love to have new music like every 4 months but that’s just not how i work. Fans out here giving me ultimatums and shit and im just like damn i thought this shit was forever.”

He is making sure to take his time so that the album satisfies himself as well as his fans. “tryna get it right for y’all, but most importantly for myself,” he added. “much love to y’all, but most importantly for myself. much love to y’all to foreal. got plenty of music i plan on releasing, just not an album now or anytime soon.”

Tiller first announced Serenity last December and was eyeing a summer 2019 release. “the serenity project is full of summer vibes and songs that make me happy,” he said in May. “so summertime sounds about right , if all goes as planned of course.”

When it does arrive, the album will follow last year’s True to Self, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Tiller would later reveal that he was battling depression at the time.

“i was depressed before i made that album and you can hear it in the music,” he said. “depression ended in 2017 and i been workin hard ever since.”

Upon its release, True to Self earned mixed reviews from critics and fans. “I’m my biggest hater and my worst critic, so when I see all these people saying things it’s like I’m agreeing with them,” he told Tim Westwood. “All these things just kinda took a toll on me, and not only that, but I went through a lot of crazy things with legal troubles and stuff with old management…I was in a dark, dark place after Trapsoul.”
