Big Sean’s ‘Detroit 2’ in Battle for No. 1 on Billboard 200

Big Sean is coming for the top spot.

The rapper’s new album Detroit 2 is in a tight battle for No. 1 on the Billboard 200. According to HITS Daily Double, the star-studded set is projected to move 100-110,000 equivalent album units in its first week, of which 25-30,000 are in sales.

But will that be enough to dethrone Taylor Swift from the No. 1 spot on the chart? Swift’s album Folklore has spent six consecutive weeks at the top.

Detroit 2, which features collaborations with Eminem, Jhené Aiko, and Lil Wayne, has already spawned several placements in the top 20 at Apple Music. “Lithuania” featuring Travis Scott is currently No. 13, followed by “Deep Reverence” with Nipsey Hussle at No. 15 and the Post Malone-assisted “Wolves” at No. 16. He also has two tracks in the top 50 at Spotify (“Wolves” and “Lithuania”).

By comparison, Sean’s 2017 album, I Decided, debuted at No. 1 with 151,000 equivalent album units in its first week.

6ix9ine is also set to return to the charts with TattleTales, which is expected to move 40-50,000 units (11-15,000 in sales). His last album, 2018’s Dummy Boy, opened at No. 2 with 66,000 in a hotly-contested battle with Travis Scott’s Astroworld.
