Big Sean’s ‘Detroit 2’ Debuts at No. 1

Three-peat.

Big Sean opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Detroit 2. The rapper’s fifth studio album launches with 103,000 equivalent album units, of which 30,000 are in album sales. This marks Sean’s third consecutive No. 1 following 2017’s I Decided and 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise.

Taking to Twitter, a grateful Sean reflected on the milestone. “My goal was to inspire YOU to turn yourself up in all ways, Mind, Body, n Soul,” he tweeted. “Life isn’t promised as we can see, so HAVE FUN and thank you so much for the #1 album for a 3rd time in a row! Let’s KEEP GOING, Why Would I stop?!”

Coming in at No. 2 on this week’s Billboard 200 is Pop Smoke, whose posthumous album Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon sits at No. 2 with 75,000 equivalent album units. The late Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die follows at No. 3 with 57,000 units.
