Gucci Mane Says He’s Leaving Atlantic Records, Alleges Racism

Gucci Mane is calling out his label over allegations of racism.

On Thursday night, the Atlanta rapper informed his fans that he would be leaving Atlantic Records next month, while claiming that its white executives were “polite racist.”

“Leaving #AtlanticRecords July 3rd these crackers polite racist #SoIcySummer,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

In a subsequent tweet, which has also been removed, he called on his fellow artists to “go on strike” against “racist ass labels.” “Burn them down too,” added Gucci, while retweeting supportive comments from fans.

In 2017, Gucci announced that he had renewed his deal with Atlantic Records for $10 million. He has been signed to Atlantic since 2007 and released 11 albums through the label. Last month, he dropped his most recent single “Both Sides” featuring Lil Baby.

Gucci followed up with another tweet, where he called out Italian fashion house Gucci for also being racist and wished them death by coronavirus. “To all snitches and my haters and the most polite racist ever @gucci I pray y’all die of corona virus,” he added.

Last fall, Gucci teamed up with his namesake luxury brand on its Cruise 2020 campaign, which also starred Iggy Pop and Sienna Miller. The campaign was released in conjunction with his album Woptober II.
