Prosecutors in YNW Melly’s double homicide case have released the crime scene photos as they continue to build their case against the rapper. The photos were used during a bail hearing to show that Melly’s co-defendant, Cortlen Henry, should not receive bail.
Melly is charged with killing two of his friends, Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr (YNW Juvy)., on October 26, 2018, while four of them, including Henry, were inside a car. After killing the two men, Melly and Henry drove hours with the dead bodies in the car while they came up with a plan to tell the police that Williams and Thomas were the victims of a drive-by shooting.
During the court hearing, prosecutors shared pictures the Miramar Police Department had taken of the crime scene. The first image shows that there were four men in the car when the incident took place. Other photos show the shell casing of the gun used in the incident, as well as pictures that mark the trajectory of the bullet inside the vehicle.
Investigators say that ballistic tests prove that a drive-by did not occur, as many shots came from within the vehicle, therefore proving Henry’s story. Investigators also used cell phone tracking data to prove that Melly was at the scene of the crime when the incident occurred.
Melly pleaded not guilty but if found guilty, he could face the death penalty.
