Kanye West Does ‘Airpool Karaoke’ with James Corden

Kanye West finally met up with James Corden for his popular “Carpool Karaoke” series.

But it wasn’t just any karaoke. The late-night host boarded a plane bound for LAX with Mr. West for a special “Late Late Show” edition called “Airpool Karaoke.” The jumbo jet was filled with his Sunday Service choir. While flying at 30,000 feet in the air, Kanye and his crew performed “Jesus Walks,” “Through the Wire,” and a gospel remix of Ginuwine’s “So Anxious.”

He also opened up everything from marriage to his finances to his spiritual awakening.

“God’s always had a plan for me and he always wanted to use me,” said Ye. “But I think he wanted me to suffer more and wanted people to see my suffering and see my pain and put stigmas on me and have me go through all the human experiences, so now when I talk about how Jesus saved me, more people can relate to that experience.”

But he has “no regret and no shame” about his past. “God is the only thing that’s perfect, so the only thing that can be perfect is God’s plan,” he said.

West called his five-year marriage to Kim Kardashian “heavenly,” but noted “every marriage year is like 100 years…It’s like 500 years of marriage.”

He also believes that he helped make marriage cool. “People thought it would be uncool to be married. Then I got married and people are like, ‘Aww, that looks cool.’”

When Corden challenged that no one thought marrying Kim was uncool, Kanye brought up Kim’s ex-husband. “Well, not Kris Humphries.”

He went on reveal the lyric from Twista’s “Slow Jamz” that changed his life (“She got a light-skin friend look like Michael Jackson / Got a dark-skin friend look like Michael Jackson”). “I knew after that I wouldn’t be able to walk the streets for the rest of my life,” he said. “I was like, ‘I will be famous after this line.’”

He also credited God for improving his financial situation. “God is using me to show off,” he said. “Last year I made $115 million and still ended up $35 million in debt. This year I looked up and I just got $68 million returned to me on my tax returns.”

In closing, the 42-year-old rapper delivered a message to non-believers. “People who don’t believe are walking dead. They are asleep and this is the awakening.”
