Atlanta rapper Killer Mike is making it clear he’s down for what JAY-Z looks to be doing with the NFL. The hip-hop veteran has weighed-in on Young Hov’s decision to partner up with the controversial league in an effort to address social injustice.
In a new interview, Mike said he believed JAY’s groundbreaking decision could open more than just a few doors for the black community.
“JAY-Z’s play, I believe, not only gives us a seat at the table, young people, young black America, it doesn’t destroy what Kaepernick kneeled for. What he kneeled for was proper treatment of us by state agents—by police. That does not end with him getting a job. The same way him kneeling is not an insult to the military.” (“Real Time With Bill Maher”)
In a recent interview, rap star Cardi B appeared optimistic about what JAY will ultimately do by partnering up with the professional football league.
“I think that he can make a change. I don’t think he went [in] on an NFL deal without an agreement – I feel like he went in there like, ‘Alright, if y’all want me to work with y’all, y’all need to bring my peoples in there.’ … I feel like JAY-Z could bring back Colin Kaepernick. I feel so. I feel like he has that power…I feel like JAY-Z could do it.” (TMZ)
This past weekend, rapper Mysonne went to Instagram to encourage fans to support both JAY-Z and NFL free agent/Black Lives Matter activist Colin Kaepernick.
Last week, retired NBA champion Matt Barnes went to Instagram to encourage fans to let JAY’s situation come together before slamming him for joining forces with the controversial football league.
