Rap veterans Pitbull and Akon are going to celebrate Independence Day with some serious fireworks. The duo are set to headline a major Fourth of July event at Jersey City, New Jersey’s annual celebration.
Starting tomorrow at 12 PM, the free event – 50 Star Fireshow – is set to feature food, carnival activities and Jersey City native Akon plus Pitbull before fireworks go down.
After a day of festivities beginning at noon, Jersey City’s own Akon and world-renowned rapper Pitbull will perform two separate shows, both free of charge. Pitbull has long been one of the biggest stars in pop music. He began his career in the early 2000s and he has sold more than 65 million records worldwide, producing hit singles like “Give Me Everything” and “Timber.” (NJ)
Last year, rap superstar Snoop Dogg pulled through in a big way for the Jersey City celebration.
Over the past six years, Jersey City has catered to locals with its own fireworks show.
Jersey City brought back its own fireworks event in 2014 after NYC moved its display to the East River, and each year the party keeps getting better with over 150,000 people in attendance last year. “We set the bar high last year bringing in Snoop Dogg as our headline performance, and we expect to impress, yet again, with this year’s entertainment lineup,” said Mayor Fulop. As we show off all that Jersey City has to offer this Independence Day, I am confident this will continue to be one of the best celebrations in the nation.” (6sqft)
