The Game is holding it down for the “Westside.”
The Compton rapper has announced that the first street single off his upcoming album Born to Rap will drop on Friday, June 21. Taking to Instagram, he shared the artwork for “Westside.”
“9 days. My street single off my last studio album hits all platforms #WESTSIDE #Prolific,” he wrote.
He previously revealed that Born to Rap would be his final album. “It’s almost my turn to fuck these ni**as up !!! 2 weeks from today, JUNE 21st I’m droppin #WESTSIDE the street single off my FINAL ALBUM !!!” added Game. “#Born2Rap I put everything I had into this album…. my TRUE FANS deserve this CLASSIC !!!”
In January, Game previewed the album, which includes collaborations with Meek Mill, 21 Savage, Migos, Anderson .Paak, Eric Bellinger, Snoh Aalegra, and Ed Sheeran.
One track in particular made headlines for its controversial lyrics about Kim Kardashian. “I’m a goat, ni**a / I held Kim Kardashian by her throat, ni**a / I made her swallow my kids until she choked, ni**a,” raps Game before offering an apology to Kanye West: “I should apologize, ’cause Ye my folks, ni**a.”
Additionally, Game addresses R. Kelly and samples Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s “Get Money” on “Gold Daytonas,” while other tracks include “$500 Candles” and “Gucci Flip Flops.” He has recorded over 90 songs and is eyeing a summer release for Born to Rap, which follows 2016’s 1992.
