Jhené Aiko is postponing her new music out of respect for Nipsey Hussle.
The singer had planned to drop new material this month, but has decided to wait. Responding to a comment from a fan asking for new music, Jhené informed them that her plans have been put on hold.
“Out of respect for Nipsey, I will be postponing the release of the new music I planned on releasing this month,” she said.
She didn’t announce a new date, only saying she would release it when she feels “the time is right.” “I want to take this time to remember and reflect on the life of the legendary Nipsey Hussle,” she added. “Thank you for understanding. long live NH.”

Following Nipsey’s death, Jhené penned a touching tribute to her Crenshaw brother. “You so inspired me, motivated me … you made me so proud to be from the same city,” she wrote on Instagram. “I am honored to have known you and so thankful that you always showed me love and support. people always thought u were one of my brothers and in a way, you are. my heart is so heavy. we really lost a gem. L.A is weeping. it’ll never be the same.”
She had previously shared plans to release a new album consisting of all freestyles. “My next album is all freestyles where i touch on many subjects and relationships… past, present and future,” she said last month.
In the wake of Nipsey’s passing, other artists have also delayed their music including ScHoolboy Q, Machine Gun Kelly, and YG, whose surprise album was set to drop Friday. Instead, it will now be released in May. “Now that we gotta deal with Big bro goin to heaven I will not drop the album this month,” he wrote.
