Rap mogul Damon “Dame” Dash is keeping it 100. The hip-hop executive has weighed-in on the drama continuing to surround Gucci amid a publicized boycott over blackface sweaters.
In a new interview, Dame suggested the culture should seriously invest in creating our own gear to get back at Gucci.
“I like that somebody stood up, and I’mma stand up. I thought it was gangster. I thought it looked good, and I just liked standing up for our culture. Gucci is Gucci. What do we expect? That’s why we got to make our own sh*t. The way I get back at that is I make my own sh*t. I had a pair of Gucci boots because I don’t make shoes. I burned them sh*ts, so I don’t give a f*ck. But I did go and buy some Prada loafers. I don’t make shoes, so I had to get some.” (Complex)
In March, G-Unit boss 50 Cent acknowledged he is still not supporting Gucci weeks after its blackface sweater drama.

In a recent interview, Atlanta rapper Future explained why he won’t cancel Gucci just yet.
“I bought Gucci before it got cancelled. So I’m still going to wear it. Because that’s my money. If you want to give me my money back, then we can talk – you can buy my clothes back if you don’t want me to wear it. I don’t feel like they did [the blackface sweater] out of ill intentions, but it ain’t for me to judge. Everybody always wants to judge somebody before having a real conversation with the designer. Without having a real conversation with the designer, y’all don’t know the background of the designer. The designer mama could be black, the designer daddy could be black, they don’t even understand. They’re just going off what somebody say off a comment. I can’t go off a comment. I just don’t know how to do it. That would be ignorant of me.” (Streetz Atlanta)

Recently, footage emerged of fellow Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy announcing he’s done supporting Gucci.
