Offset Talks Cardi B Apology, Car Crash, & Estranged Father on ‘Ellen’

Two years after his appearance with Migos, a solo Offset returned to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Friday (Mar. 22).

While promoting his solo debut album Father of 4, Cardi B’s husband bared his heart during the vulnerable interview, where he spoke about winning back his wife. Despite the controversy, Offset defended his decision to crash her set at Rolling Loud in December.

“I love my wife so it’s serious, not a game,” he said. “We have schedules and we have shows and I just felt like if I gave a break between time, I just can’t give that break between time so it’s my forefront. I’ll step to it as a man and say I’m wrong.”

He received backlash for his public apology, but he doesn’t regret it. “That’s why our men don’t be tryna be vulnerable ’cause when you do it, it’s something wrong with it either way,” added Offset.

On behalf of his Sallie Cephus Family Fund, he also presented Ellen with a $25,000 check to the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, which was presented by his 4-year-old son Kody.

Later in the interview, he revealed that he usually carries $100,000 on him, but he’s “learnt to slow it down.” He also thanked “Ellen the plug” for helping him get his Bentley Bentayga.

Offset went on to reflect on the car crash that nearly killed him, which inspired his song “Red Room.” “I just wanted to let other men know it’s cool to make mistakes,” said Offset, who addressed his estranged relationship with his father.

“I have a father that I don’t know of. He still runs away for it, I don’t get it,” he said. “I’ve invited him on interviews and all type of [TV appearances] just to get in contact. He’s still dodging. I wanted to make other men say the men side of the story and accept the wrongdoing and go to fix it. It’s never too late.”

He capped off the show with a performance of “Legacy.” Joined by Travis Scott, the rappers lit up the stage with their Father of 4 collaboration.
