“Empire” star Jussie Smollett appeared in court hours after being formally charged in a federal case.
According to reports, Smollett had his bond set for $100,000 and is expected to return to court next month.
“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett appeared in court Thursday after surrendering to authorities in the early morning on one felony count of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report. The judge set Smollett’s bond at $100,000. He is expected to bond out of jail. He is due back in court March 14, when he is expected to enter his plea. (ABC 7 Chicago)
The legal drama even sparked some unexpected criticism from President Donald Trump.

Some reports claim Jussie’s main motivation behind the attack stemmed from his “Empire” salary.
7:10 AM PT — The Police Superintendent just expressed his outrage at Jussie Smollett for allegedly betraying the African American and LGBT communities to further his career in a “publicity stunt.” The superintendent said Smollett created the ruse because “he was dissatisfied with his salary” on “Empire.” (TMZ)
