Atlanta rapper 21 Savage is talking. The hip-hop star has delivered his first interview since getting detained and released by ICE.

In a new “Good Morning America” interview, Sav didn’t hold back on discussing his situation and recalling his bust.

“I don’t even know [what happened]. I was just driving and I just seen guns and blue lights, and then I was in the back of a car and I was gone. They didn’t say nothing. They just said, ‘We got Savage.’ It was definitely targeted. …. I didn’t know what a visa was. I was seven when I first came here. I didn’t know what that meant as far as when I transferred into an adult, how that was going to affect my life. I wasn’t hiding it, but I didn’t wanna get deported, so I’m not gonna come out and be like, ‘Hey, by the way, I wasn’t born here.’” (“Good Morning America”)

Sav also explained his personal issues with the United States’ approach to immigration policies.

“I’ve been here 20 years, 19 years. This is all I know, you know what I’m saying? I don’t feel like you should be arrested and put in a place where a murderer would be for just being in the country for too long.” (“Good Morning America”)

This week, Sav’s mom came forward to thank various celebs like JAY-Z and Cardi B for showing her son support during the ICE nightmare.

This week, Savage finally managed to get released from ICE on bond pending a deportation hearing.

21’s lawyers, Charles H. Kuck, Dina LaPolt and Alex Spiro tell TMZ, “21 Savage asked us to send a special message to his fans and supporters — he says that while he wasn’t present at the Grammy Awards, he was there in spirit and is grateful for the support from around the world and is more than ever, ready to be with his loved ones and continue making music that brings people together.” (TMZ)
