The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Archie Eversole.
The Atlanta rapper, best known for his sports anthem “We Ready,” has died at 37 years old. According to Dekalb County Police, Archie was shot by his brother, Alexander Kraus, at a Chevron gas station on March 25. He died from his injuries at a nearby hospital on April 3.
Kraus, 41, was arrested and is in Dekalb County Jail, reports TMZ. He was originally charged with aggravated assault, but now faces murder charges.
In 2002, Archie released his debut album, Ride Wit Me Dirty South Style. The album was certified gold, spawning the hit “We Ready” and the remix with Bubba Sparxxx.
“We Ready” became an anthem at football games and other sporting events. The NFL even used it in an ad to celebrate the 2019 season opener.
Archie was a fixture in the Atlanta hip-hop scene. In 2018, he created a song for the Atlanta United soccer club called “United We Conquer.”
Friends and fans took to social media to share tributes in the wake of the tragedy.
