JAY-Z showed up to the premiere of The Harder They Fall in London on Wednesday night.
While speaking with a reporter on the red carpet at Royal Festival Hall, the Roc Nation mogul was asked if he is able to relate to the subject of the Jeymes Samuel-directed film, which centers around a rivalry between Black cowboys.
“You need to be able to make sure that you can actually do what you’re asking the actors to do,” said the reporter before asking, “So Shawn, can you ride a horse?”
JAY-Z, who produced the movie, had a hilarious response ready. “I can ride a Porsche,” he said in reference to the German automobile manufacturer. “It got horsepower.”
The Harder They Fall, which opens in select theaters Oct. 22 and on Netflix Nov. 3, features an all-star cast including Regina King, Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield, Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, Damon Wayans Jr., and more.
“I’m super excited for Jeymes [Samuel], who’s actually from London,” said JAY. “Just the idea of him releasing his major debut, because he’s done film work and he’s done music. But for him to be releasing in London, a place where he’s from, it has to be a dream for him. So I’m super proud of my brother.”
In addition to producing the film, Hov and Kid Cudi have collaborated on a song for the soundtrack called “My Guns Go Bang.”
A glamorous Beyoncé also made a surprise appearance at Wednesday’s premiere to support her husband.
