On the eve of his latest Chicago homecoming, Kanye West is in headlines for an attempt to change his name.
Kanye has filed documents in Los Angeles, which would change his name from Kanye Omari West to only “Ye.” TMZ states the decision is now in the hands of a judge and if successful, the Hip-Hop icon will be known as Ye.
TMZ notes the only hindrance of a name change is evidence of an attempt to commit fraud. With that likely, not the case, Ye is on the way.
Ye is currently engaged in his latest round of jabs with Drake in the midst of a name change. Ye didn’t take too kindly to Drake’s perceived jab on Trippie Redd’s “Betrayal” and brought Pusha T into a group chat with Drake.
“I live for this,” Kanye wrote in a text that he shared on Instagram. “I’ve been fucked with by nerd ass jock niggas like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.”
Returning to Instagram again, Kanye West went a step further and shared a screenshot of Drake’s address and location. He would remove the post, but of course, everything on The Internet lives forever.
With albums from both looming, you can expect the war of words and social media antics to continue.
