After entering a plea deal in his federal racketeering case, 6ix9ine is beefing up security.
According to TMZ, the Brooklyn rapper wants to ensure that his family is safe, especially now that he’s cooperating with the feds and naming names.
Since his arrest in November, Tekashi has reportedly spent thousands on personal security for his mother. He is worried that anyone looking for revenge against him might harm her.
“6ix9ine has the means to pay for his family’s private security, so the government expects the money to come out of [his] pocket to protect his closest family members,” says Tekashi’s attorney, Dawn Florio, who says the government would step in if Tekashi can’t afford the security.
6ix9ine pled guilty to nine criminal charges and snitched on members from the Nine Trey Bloods, implicating them in multiple crimes. He identified his former associate Kintea McKenzie as the gunman in the attempted shooting of Chief Keef in June 2018. McKenzie was later indicted.
His baby mama Sara Molina has hired her own 24/7 armed security to protect her and their 3-year-old daughter. She said she’s been footing the bill and that Tekashi has not been in contact with them.
“He made his bed, now he has to lie in it,” she told TMZ. “But he didn’t think how it’s going to affect others. He’s only thinking about himself in this situation. I’m left to pick up the pieces of whatever mess he’s made.”
Tekashi is scheduled to be sentenced on January 24, 2020. As part of his deal with prosecutors, he must continue to work with the feds despite the safety risk to himself and his loved ones.
